Sounds of Tea: an embodied meditation
Life unfolds continuously and each moment is a golden opportunity to practice mindfulness and embodied presence. It is up to us to cultivate the subtlety of perception and allow and welcome truth and beauty in our lives. Something as simple as preparing and drinking tea can have a profound effect on us if we turn to it with the attention and care of a ritual. So for this experience, we will practice Sitting with Tea - an exercise in welcoming the small, the subtle, the slow, the quiet, the unnoticed. The everyday sounds of tea (clinking of cups, boiling of water, pouring of tea, etc.) are typically hidden from us behind a curtain of familiarity and flatness, so we don't pay attention to them. So this evening we will attend to the Sounds of Tea and will invite them to be our guides. Together we will unlock the sacredness that is within reach in every moment.
Some additional acoustic sounds will help us augment the experience of presence.
This experience will be led by Mary Keena Frisbee of the being:soundproject and of Future Clear. The Tea we will be working with in the ceremony was harvested during her time at a family run tea farm in Nepal this past March.
